
Marilynn Derwenskus
Marilynn Derwenskus trained at Wayne State University where she earned her BFA and MA in painting and drawing during the era of abstract impressionism. At the University of Chicago, she encountered post-modernism during her MFA studies. Derwenskus is a Ball State University painting professor emeritus. She was awarded the BSU Outstanding Creative Endeavor Award and 22 grants for creative research, and 15 artist’s residencies.
Derwenskus exhibited in 25 solo shows, 19 two-person shows, 57 invitationals, 176 competitions and received 77 awards. Currently she is affiliated with many American Watercolor Societies, is the regional representative to the National Watercolor Society and is a past president of the International Society of Experimental Artists.
Her work has been published in numerous periodicals and books including Watercolor Magazine and several watercolor books.
